PM unsatisfied

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has expressed his dissatisfaction with the agreement reached between the NC, CPN-UML and the Maoists in the meeting held on Friday in Godavari. The PM gave his opinion to Speaker of the House Subash Chandra Nembang who had a meeting with Koirala on Sunday morning to discuss the contents of the letter sent by the government to the UN regarding the management of weapons.

The PM is said to be dissatisfied with the unofficial agreement reached between the three parties regarding the dissolution of the present parliament and the formation of an interim parliament. Koirala is reported to have been worried about the three parties reaching such an agreement without consulting other parties. He was also noted as having said that an interim parliament could not be an alternative to the present House of Representatives.

Nembang had told Koirala that he had not been informed of the details of the agreement when the PM inquired about it. In the summit talks held between the government and the Maoists on 16 June the Prime Minister had given his consent to dissolve the parliament and replace it with an alternative system.
