Nepal has sent a special unit of its Armed Police Force to set up a border outpost in Byas village near the Nepali territory that India has claimed and built a road through to the Chinese border.
The 25-member unit landed in Byas by helicopter on Wednesday to set up a temporary base 12 km from Kalapani on the Mahakali River which forms Nepal’s western border with India. The sliver of mountains at the trijunction between Nepal, India and China has been claimed by both New Delhi and Kathmandu.
The Home Ministry plans to add 221 border outposts along the border with India and China. Seven of the new outposts will be along the Chinese border.
