Dish Home and Himalmedia to collaborate

Dish Home Chair Hem Raj Dhakal and Himalmedia Publisher Kanak Mani Dixit (l) signing the collaboration agreement between the two organisations.

Dish Home Network Ltd and Himalmedia Pvt Ltd have agreed to collaborate in the production and distribution of television programming, and an agreement to this effect was signed between Chair of Dish Media Hem Raj Dhakal and Himalmedia Publisher Kanak Mani Dixit under which audio-visual production of Himalmedia will be aired via Dish Media’s platform.

Dish Media’s Chair Dhakal said, "We have entered into this agreement with Himalmedia in line with our policy of progressively increasing nationally produced television content. We decide to go with Himal because of the proven capability of its newsroom in research, analysis and presentation on current affairs.”

Dhakal expressed the hope that the programming to emerge from this collaboration would raise the level of nationally-produced audio-visual presentation available to the public.

Himalmedia publisher Dixit said although the company has been involved in print and, lately, online to produce audio-visual material, this was an "exciting opportunity" to try and prove that it is possible to produce and air programmes comparable to the finest international output.

“Due to the pandemic lockdown, we had reluctantly decided to discontinue our print editions, but we had been attracted to digital media, specifically television, because of evolving audience interest,” said Dixit. “There is an unfulfilled demand among the public for quality television programmes, and with Dish Home we have access to a powerful platform.”

A media house that has published the Himal Khabarpatrika and Nepali Times weeklies for over two decades, Himalmedia presently has two news portals www.himalkhabar.com and www.nepalitimes.com.

Dish Home is the premier pay tv organisation in Nepal, having successfully established a nationwide footprint over the past decade. The company has been offering its subscribers with national and international television channels as well as several exclusive entertainment channels, besides providing opportunity to watch films ‘pay per view’.

Through the collaboration with Himalmedia, Dish Home looks forward to providing its subscribers with exceptional nationally-produced programmes.
