<article><figure><amp-img width="538" height="356" layout="responsive" src="https://superdesk-pro-c.s3.amazonaws.com/sd-nepalitimes/20221109121136/636b91639c7e80680e06f0e5jpeg.jpg"></amp-img></figure><p>Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has signed an agreement with Wanwang Digital Energy for import, installation and maintenance of 50 electric vehicle charging stations across Nepal.</p><p>The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank, at a cost of Rs378 million and will be completed next year. The new budget incentivised surplus electricity consumption by repealing a controversial tax hike and excise duty on EV imports, while waiving five-year renewal taxes for those switching to EVs from petrol-diesel alternatives. </p></article>
