Caregivers to Israel

The first batch of 99 Nepali caregivers left Kathmandu for Israel on 19 January to work in geriatric homes. More than 1,000 workers (70% of them females) will be leaving in the next month, after their departure was delayed due to the pandemic and other bureaucratic hassles in Nepal. This is a government-to-government (G2G) agreement between Nepal and Israel, and the workers will have the same labour safeguards as Israeli workers. Israeli ambassador Hanan Goder was at the airport to see off the workers and said: "You will be a bridge between Nepali and Israeli families. This is a win-win cooperation between the countries and we are all proud to be a part of it."
