Results of the Himalmedia public opinion survey 20 years ago from this week is disturbingly similar to that of earlier this year, which showcased widespread public disillusionment with the political leadership. The only differences then and now: Maoists were still insurgents and it was the Nepali Congress that was leading the government, but were plagued with infighting within the party, just like with the now disintegrated Nepal Communist Party.
