A Yeti Airlines Twin Otter crashed on Wednesday morning while trying to land at Jumla killing all nine on board including three crew members, airline sources in Nepalganj said.

Crew members were identified as Capt Krishna Malla, co-pilot Dipak Pokhrel and flight attendant Dipak Sherchan. The plane was on a flight from Nepalganj to Jumla via Surkhet. This is the second Yeti Twin Otter crash in two years. Three crew members were killed when a cargo flight crashed on Lamjura near Lukla in 2004.

In Wednesday\'s crash, the plane aborted landing because it was too high and allowed a Sita Air Dornier that was following to land. But eye-witnesses said the Yeti plane appears to have stalled while making a tight turn on the threshold of runway 27 and ploughed into the ground in a ball of fire on the eastern edge of the runway.

Jumla is situated at 9,400 ft and has tricky wind conditions after mid-morning. This is the second major crash in Jumla in recent years. A Necon Air Cessna Grand Caravan crashed on takeoff there in 2001 killing all six on board.
