Journalist Vijay Kumar Panday's debut book Khushi has won this year's Madan Puraskar.
Pic: vijaypanday.comIn a meeting held today, the Madan Puraskar Guthi decided to confer the award to Panday. Panday garnered much success as the host of popular TV program Dishanirdesh.
Khushi, Panday's debut book is a collection of the writer's essays, memoirs and portraits. The writer has touched upon different issues of human life including alcoholism, power, money, sex and spirituality. The book was published last year on 12 September by Fine Prints.
Madan Puraskar, considered the most prestigious award for literature in Nepal is conferred annually by Madan Puraskar Guthi for an outstanding book in the Nepali language. Last year, Radha Paudel's Khalanga ma hamla had won the award. Past winners include Satyamohan Joshi, Bhim Nidhi Tiwari, Jhamak Ghimre, Jagadish Ghimire, Rajan Mukarung among others.
The Guthi also decided to honor writer and social worker Angoor Baba Joshi with the Jagadambashree award.
