The joint struggle committee of Brahmins, Chettris and Dashnamis who have been agitating against ethnic federalism and demanding that they be categorised as indigenous population, have called off their protest program following a pact signed with the government.
The group had called for an indefinite strike from Friday. However, the talks between the agitators and the government which ran until late at night on Thursday, yielded results and they have formally called off the protests.
