“Peace process at risk”

UNMIN Chief Karen Landgren has said the peace process is in risk because of the breakdown of consensus among the political parties.

“After May 1, the situation is unpredictable, and may seriously endanger the peace process,” she said at a press conference on Friday.

Landgren mentioned that she had met Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who assured her that the demonstrations on Saturday would be peaceful.

“I am deeply concerned that despite these peaceful intentions, potential spoilers of the peace process could provoke a clash.” she added.

The government has also assured that it will not use unnecessary force, she said.

The government has asked all security agencies to remain on high alert, and given the responsibility of guarding sensitive infrastructures, including the airport, hydropower stations and telephone towers, to Nepal Army.

All that UNMIN and UNHCR do is issue press release and tell Nepali people what they already know. We don’t need theses white elephants in our country when they can not be of any assistance.

Tapan Das: Firstly,DoQquixotic Syndrome of Prachanda is exposed by his uncalled of accusations to civil society stalwarts like the three well known personages. Second, it reminds us about Hitler, unsuccessful Beer House Putsh in Munich. Thirdly, Hitler.s Reichstag ( Paliament ) fire in Munich,which lead him to power. So is it the type of democracy for which we fought in the Arpil of 1962? hitler had his Goebbels ,so has Prachand. Vince: There are now less than four months left to complete the Constitution—and that includes time left for a proper consultation with Nepalis. (Why is the necessary consultation period never referred to by Nepali leaders –or the media?). As the clock ticks, one ends up asking: who/which faction would see it as being in their interest for the clock to run out? Whoever in the CA is opposed to the passage of a new Constitution, surely has the ability to take steps (stalling, obstruction etc) to see that their goal is achieved.
Hari Prasad Kafle: So, every one who is not a Maoist agrees that the Maoist party and its leaders are common criminals, who rob and loot Nepalis. Why cannot anybody do anything about it. If you hack a Maoist leader with a Khukuri, he will bleed just like anyone else. All I hear and read is that the Maoist have violated everything, – you name it, they have abused it. Tapan Das: Three issues are of primary importance and need answer from the peers without munching words to proceed forward in state restructuring. !. Do Jhapa with 69 %, or Chitwan with 84%,or Nawalparasi with 57%,or Dang with 625 ,or Kanchanpur with 62 % and Morang with 51% Pahadi population right to ask for joining with the adjecent hill districts if they want against joining with adjecent tarai district or not? We talk of the right of self-determination . Does it apply only to some select group or to all? 2Kaski, Parbat, Syangja, Argha-Khanchi, Gulmi,Baglung , Pyuthan and Rukum are districts with Khas upper Caste as dominant group. Khas are in the majority in all of them. Even the Brahmins are the sigle largest group in Kaski, Parbat, Syangja, Argha-Khanchi and Gulmi. They too want to remain intact like other communities as one unit. The only viable solution is to keep Magarat and these region as one unit. They cannot be separated into many. Tamuwan , Magarat and West Narayani...

Gheo Chaku Naran: Agradhikar -Priority Rights. If any community deserves Agradhikar it is the Dalits, Only Dalits. And only Dalits. Let them get it in states that is formed at least racially. Will Malla K. Sundar or Manik Lal Shresta agree to vacate their chair ( which they aspire ) to A Dalit from Newar community? A deola , a Chame , or a Kusle/Kapali ? It is only for 2 terms so why not. Rajaram: A State called NARAYANI. It starts from Kaski in the West toKathmandu Valley in the East . Itcontains the south Gorkha andincludes the Chitwan. It lies between the newly proposed states of Tamuwan, Magrat ,Tamsaling, Newa and Madhes. This is a State never asked by its majority communities inhabiting it , the Khas Arya as they are now being called ,the same Chhetri- Bahun cohort. The only purpose or the rationale behind its creation is to fracture the areas where there is concentration of Bahun /Chhetris, particularly Bahuns into 4 different states. This is the evil design of a few communalists disguised as activist -cum expert cum donar fed dollar farmers;it is not necessary to name them . You can easily guess who they are. The districts Kaski, Parbat , Syangja, Argha-Khanchi, Baglung, Gulmi , Pyutha and up to Rukum has Khas majority and forms a continuity as well. It is no use to break this area into 3 or 4 frations. Best solution is to elimunate or disband, this state...
Gheo Chaku Naran: Charitrahin Party ? A party that robs or extorts levy from the food allowance of its cadre or protector has no morale . It can kill any number of persons like mukti Nath without any scruple. It can take the country to civil strife or war by creating states on racial basis. it has its aim to be in power by any means State capitalism and fascism will now be the order of the day if they come to power with their racial or ethnic state; whatever attractive name they give them. Down with the promoter of race based states Prachunda or Babu- hisimaru- ram or Kiran-void or Jhalluram. Long live Chitra Bahadur K.c.and Naran Man Bijukchhe and their lot; the ones who can read the future or the dark dauys to come beforehand. Let all soil of the land join hands with them from now on;that means after the debacles in the State Restructuring Committee. We welcome the three musketeers.
K. K. Sharma: This is called Rana Nit,i in the Maoist vocabulary. And by changing stands they have been successful in leading all by the nose to comply with their agenda. They are inching their way towards their ultimate mile. Simple. What is there to wonder or ponder about this.
